Why I do not support the extension of Christmas into November

If you know me pretty well, you know that I do not support the playing of Christmas music in November, or even in early December. I thought I'd briefly explain why that is.

In the secular world there's no really good meaning for some holidays. Thanksgiving becomes a time to eat a lot of food and watch football. Commercial retailers make money off holidays. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, to name a few. But since when do you buy people gifts for Thanksgiving? You don't.

Therefore, the commercial retailers (except for grocery stores) start the Christmas season early, in efforts to make more money, thus giving short shrift to the Thanksgiving holiday where we thank God. This also supports the secular meaning of the Christmas holiday rather than the real reason that we celebrate it.

I don't want to support that. Also, I'm a strict follower of tradition, and this early "celebration" of Christmas is not traditional at all.
