as though we had never been known as your people.
1 Oh, that you would burst from the heavens and come down!
How the mountains would quake in your presence!
2 As fire causes wood to burn
and water to boil,
your coming would make the nations tremble.
Then your enemies would learn the reason for your fame!
This sentiment reflects a lot of what I've felt over the last six months.
When I read the passage a week ago, there was some interesting commentary in my study Bible attached to those verses. (Following taken from the Discover God Study Bible, from Tyndale):
Even the prophet Isaiah became impatient at times. He wanted God to act—right then! That's a feeling we've all experienced. "Why doesn't God come right now and help me with my problem?" we ask. But God has His own timing. He knows exactly when and where He should act. We must place our trust in His master plan for our lives. He listens when we pray, and He acts when the time is right. Don't let your circumstances get in the way of your trust in Him. Trust Him in spite of your situation. He will work it out for good in His own time. It's super easy to say all of that. (Well, sort of... typing it in was super annoying because of my seeming propensity for typos with all the computer work I've done the last few weeks and my hands getting annoyed with me...) But it's even harder to do. It's something I've definitely been struggling with over the last few months as I don't see a way out of it all.
